Treasure (2022) — Original Symbolist Painting by Jolanta Talaikiene
The burdens we gather on life's journey, and the small light that survives them.
Treasure is a 2022 original acrylic painting on canvas by Jolanta Talaikiene, a Lithuanian-American symbolist painter based in New Jersey. Measuring 30 × 24 inches (76.2 × 61 cm), it shows a pale figure wrapped in a heavy dark cloak covered with moths; against the dark palette, a single small clover gives off a faint light.
The story behind the painting
“With this painting I wanted to reveal the fragile boundary between twilight and Light, between human consciousness and instinct. The moths and the cloak are the restraints people collect along the way. They weigh heavily, yet we keep carrying them.”
Symbols in Treasure
The moths: the burdens and restraints we collect
The heavy cloak: what we carry without letting go
The clover: the small light that survives
